Urban Hope Campus Ministry For most of my professional career, I have served the Lord through the discipleship and instruction of young women. In the fall of 2020, I was approached by Pastor Alton with an opportunity to serve Urban Hope as the Women’s Ministry Director and to continue my already established work in campus ministry at Miles College located here in the heart of Fairfield, AL. After much deliberation and prayer, I accepted the opportunity and have been serving the church in these ways ever since. My name is Carine Lewis and I consider it a great privilege to share my perspective on what I’m witnessing God do in our church and in our community. My husband Carlton and I have been members of Urban Hope Community Church for nearly five years. In the summer of 2019, Carlton and I purchased a home here in Fairfield and have had the privilege of serving this community together ever since. We have a uniquely personal perspective on the issues faced by those in the community around us and the Lord has developed a burden in both of our hearts to see men and women saved by Jesus Christ and to submit to Him as their Lord and savior as we have. Several of these men have come to us through college campus ministries and now make up the core group and leadership team within our church. We’ve seen our women’s ministry, under the leadership of our Women’s Ministry Director, Carine Lewis, really come into its own this year. This is a photo of our first group of students on our trip to New York City in 2011. He is an eternal, self-sufficient being who is good, wise, powerful, loving, just and holy. We believe in the Trinity; that there is one God who exists as three beings; The Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit. We believe that through the Bible, God provided an accurate and error-free record of who He is, what he has done and how we may have a relationship with Him. We believe that all people are born sinners. This means that we have a natural bent towards rebellion against God and are guilty of breaking God’s law and deserving of His wrath. We believe that because of His great love and mercy, God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to become like us, obey the law for us and die on the cross for us. We believe that salvation is a gift of grace through faith alone so that, when people trust in Jesus Christ as their savior, they are viewed by God as righteous because of Jesus and are considered “sons of God.” We believe that God has commissioned believers to communicate the gospel message throughout the whole world so that others may know what God has done in order to save them from their sins and to have a new relationship with them.
